Royal College of Nursing activists were heading home to “green” their wards after training sessions at the Joint Reps conference last week. Despite a festive conference dinner the night before, the activists were soon unpacking sustainability issues from their workplaces and coming up with ideas.
SAP is a new programme to support clinical teams in taking action for sustainability. Structured around two facilitated workshops, SAP helps front-line staff to learn about sustainable healthcare, focus in on their priorities and put together a green action plan.
In 2008, the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (formerly known as the Campaign for Greener Healthcare) partnered with the NHS in Cornwall to pilot an NHS toolkit for climate change, funded by the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement.
