The management of waste from healthcare facilities is a complex and challenging one. Increasingly stringent legislation, rising costs and increasing hazards are but some of the challenges faced world-wide. As a means of sharing best practice, knowledge and building stronger networks, the UK-based Healthcare Waste and Resources Group, in conjunction with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) will be hosting an International Symposium on September 24 and 25, 2009.
The event, which will be held at the Royal College of Physicians, will have as its key note speaker Dr Raki Zghondi from the World Health Organisation. In addition, there will be a number of presentations from internationally renowned speakers on a range of topics including biohazards, pharmaceutical waste, waste minimisation and finance.
