1.30 - The NHS and Carbon Reduction Simon Greenfield - Strategic Estates Advisor, NHS London Simon will explain the national and local Government’s strategy on carbon reduction and how this affects the NHS, and the impact of the strategic guidance from the Department of Health and the Sustainable Development Unit.
1.50 - Developing Your Carbon Reduction Programme Phil Jones - Consultant and Practioner Phil will explain how to develop an overall energy management programme: What do you need to put in place to really make it happen? He will then go through the various energy efficiency measures than an organisation can take to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings.
2.30 - Practical Carbon Management in the NHS Ben Murray - Carbon Smart Ben will talk from his experience of carbon management projects, including NHS trusts. Ben will cover carbon footprint measurement, how to build a carbon management approach/ strategy and methods for engaging staff and others in the effort required.
3.00 - 3.30 - Break for tea/coffee and networking
4.00 – New Buildings and Carbon reduction Sean Lockie – Faithful and Gould Sean has been involved with many NHS schemes and is also a passionate advocate of carbon reduction. He will talk about how we can reduce Carbon in the design process around new buildings and what steps can be taken.
4.30 The MARU Briefing Guide for NHS Projects Roy Carrol, Building Design Partnership The Medical Architectural Research Unit, based at the University, has been active over the last three years with an Innovation Circle. The Circle have developed a Briefing Guide for clients involved with NHS projects. Roy will explain how this process can be used at the pre-design process to help with the project process.
