World Kidney Day

The role of toxic nephropathies and nephropathies associated with febrile illness in childhood renal morbidities and mortalities need to be highlighted too.
Perhaps the next WKD should focus on that.

The 2010 WKD focus on DM as a leading cause of chronic kidney disease is timely more so with the rising incidence of Diabetes mellitus worldwide.
The general picture however is advocacy for kidney protective lifestyles in weight and Blood pressure control, regular execise, adequate water intake, reduction in salt intake, eating healthy, shuning of nephrotoxic substances and periodic urine screening especially in diabetes mellitus or people above 40 years of age.
