On behalf of the Sustainable Consumption Institute, you are invited to attend the launch of Professor Geoff Beattie’s forthcoming book Why Aren’t We Saving the Planet?
The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 9 June 2010 at the Royal Society of Arts in London from 6 to 7 pm. Coffee and registration will begin at 5:30 pm.
Robert Hahn, newly appointed director of the SCI, will introduce the speakers. Tim Harford of theFinancial Times will interview Professor Beattie about the book and facilitate a brief Q&A session. The session will be followed by a reception with wine and canapés.
Professor Beattie’s book presents psychological research on implicit and explicit attitudes towards low carbon footprint products and carbon labelling. The research provides new insights into the process of why (and how) we make changes in our behaviour in response to major issues, like climate change. The book brings these ideas together with the author’s own narrative of how his consumption patterns were shaped.
