In December 2009 we launched the London NHS Cycling Strategy and call for action on cycling in the London NHS (briefing paper attached). Currently 57 London NHS organisations have signed up to the strategy and have implemented, or are in the process of implementing, the 3 recommended actions.
Recommended Actions:
- Sign up to the Cycle to Work Guarantee scheme (pledge - by visiting the website http://www.cycletoworkguarantee.org.uk/ )
- Implement the Cycle to Work scheme (tax free bicycles - across all sites)
- Raise bike mileage to 20p per mile for business travel (across all sites)
Mayor Boris Johnson will be presenting certificates to NHS organisations that have implemented the above 3 actions on Friday the 10th of September, from 10:30-11:30, at St Charles’ Centre for Health and Wellbeing, North Kensington.
Organisations meeting the above criteria and wishing to attend the presentation, or receive a certificate, should contact Gema Hagen confirming that the actions have been implemented across all sites and providing the following details for those attending the presentation:
- name
- role title
- organisation
- e-mail address
Invitations will also be sent to CEs within your organisations and numbers restricted to 3 per organisation at this stage.
