The Green Nephrology Summit 2012 was held in London on 26th September, organised by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) and attended by nurses, doctors, technicians, patients, NHS managers, industry representatives, medical students and other interested parties. The aim of the summit was to bring together members of the Green Nephrology Network to share ideas and experience for improving the sustainability of kidney care.
The programme featured keynote speech from Dr Donal O’Donoghue, the National Clinical Director for Kidney Care, “Masterclass” workshops with Green Nephrology Local Representatives, a poster competition to spark people’s imagination, a “Future Directions” interactive planning session and the presentation of the 2012 Green Nephrology Awards.
Workshop topics included: implementing waste management programmes, CKD remote monitoring, what can Green Nephrology learn from patients, and prevention in kidney care.
Green Nephrology Awards
in partnership with NHS Kidney Care
The Green Nephrology Awards celebrate the successes of local kidney services in introducing change on the ground. The 2012 Awards are open to all kidney units or providers of kidney care in the UK, who may enter one or more local initiatives that demonstrate a benefit to the environmental sustainability of kidney care.
Shortlisted entries were exhibited in poster format at the Summit and will be included in a themed issue of NHS Kidney Care’s e-newsletter, Kidney Care Matters.
