Leaner Greener Cardiology with Roger Boyle

Muir Gray talks to Roger Boyle, National Clinical Director for Heart Disease and Stroke, at the British Heart Foundation "Greener Cardiology Summit", run jointly by the BHF and the Campaign for Greener Healthcare on 1st March 2010.

Since the creation of a national programme of care for heart disease and stroke, there are now 31 000 fewer deaths each year from these causes.  Is it down to prevention or cure?  Are people just surviving longer though unwell, or are they gaining years of active and productive life?  And how do the changes made to heart services fit with the need to reduce carbon emissions in the NHS?
